Morrissey’s Years of Refusal

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

On February 17th, Morrissey will be releasing his latest LP entitled Years of Refusal. He has signed with Lost Highway, which is more known for their list of country artists including Lyle Lovett and Willie Nelson. The first single off the album will be a little tune called “I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris”, and is set to be released one week before the album drops. The most exciting part of this news is the fact that Morrissey will be launching a North American tour that runs through Austin on April 12 at The Bass Concert Hall. I saw Morrissey over a year ago at The Backyard, and in my opinion is one of those artist that everyone must see at least once. My guess is that the show will consist of mostly new tracks from the latest album, some classic solo hits, and a track or two from The Smiths catalogue.

Here is the track listing for the new LP.

  1. Something is Squeezing My Skull
  2. Mama Lay Softly on the Riverbed
  3. Black Cloud
  4. I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris
  5. All You Need is Me
  6. When Last I Spoke to Carol
  7. That’s How People Grow Up
  8. One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell
  9. It’s Not Your Birthday Anymore
  10. You Were Good In Your Time
  11. Sorry Doesn’t Help
  12. I’m OK By Myself

Prospekt’s March is the upcoming EP from Coldplay that is set to be released in November. It will be compiled of B-Side tracks, and other songs that they did not get to finalize before their Viva la Vida deadline. Check out the letter from Chris Martin, which tells more detail about the EP including the track listing.

Coldplay Will Be Releasing “Prospects March” EP This December

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Last week I broke some news about Coldplay that was gathered over the (always reliable) internet. The rumor of a new EP or B-Sides collection had been flying around, and has now indeed been confirmed as a “for sure” thing. Coldplay announced earlier this week that they will be releasing an EP, which will contain original songs that did not make the initial cut of Viva La Vida. Prospects March will be out sometime in December, and will contain several Brian Eno produced tracks & a collaboration with Kylie Minogue. Looks like the internet turned out to be pretty trustworthy for me in this situation.

Beck’s Modern Guilt

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

The Danger Mouse produced album by Beck has a confirmed title, track list, and release date. Modern Guilt will be approximately 30 minutes long, and will feature another Chillville artist, Cat Power, performing on a track called “Walls”. The LP will drop on July 8, and could possibly take on new sound from the funkiest white man in the biz. A few weeks ago I made the first single “Chemtrails” my catch of the day, and it absolutely takes on a more psychedelic/Bryan Wilson/Panda Bear sound. Can’t wait to hear the entire record, and see his set at ACL.

  1. Orphans
  2. Gamma Ray
  3. Chemtrails
  4. Modern Guilt
  5. Youthless
  6. Walls (ft. Cat Power)
  7. Replica
  8. Soul of a Man
  9. Profanity Prayers
  10. Volcano

New York City by Brazilian Girls

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Chillville artist, Brazilian Girls, will be releasing their next full length LP on August 5. New York City is the records name, which does not include bassist Jesse Murphy who is currently taking a break. When Jesse was here in the studio with us several months ago, it was pretty clear that he was a major influence on the electronic sound of the band. I am pretty eager to see if there will be any change in the Girl’s sound on this new album. Here is the track listing.

  1. St. Petersburg
  2. Losing Myself
  3. Berlin
  4. Strangeboy
  5. Ricardo
  6. I Want Out
  7. L’Interprete
