We’re trying something a little different here in the Chillville blog… you may have noticed an increased frequency of posts recently; it’s no coincidence. We read a virtual metric ton of music, label, magazine, and news blogs every day, and figured you’d like to avoid some of that if you could. So we’re going to try and keep you up-to-date on some of the more interesting stories that cross our web browsers.
One of the first this morning: Matador Records (home of Shearwater, Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, & more) is releasing really limited edition vinyl of Jay Reatard, Sonic Youth, Beck, and Pavement for the second annual Record Store Day on April 18th. Check out the official website for participating stores. (via Nylvi)
Also cool: the free Treasure Fingers show on Friday at Beauty Bar. We’ll talk about it more during the weekly show rundown, but lets just say that if you wanna dance your problems away Friday, this’ll be the spot. (via Switchburn)
Speaking of Switchburn, if you’re bored and feel like watching some face-meltingly awesome music, check out their videos of HEALTH from Emo’s last July. We’ve played Crystal Castle’s chilled out remix of Crimewave on the show before, but the drum breakdown at the end of it is nothing compared to the full-on HEALTH live experience. Watch Crimewave here.
If you’re hooked on Twitter, and would love being included in the random 140-character-or-less thoughts of some of your favorite musicians, this list is where you’ll find your new and best tweeps (twitter+peeps=ok, so it’s lame). Colin Meloy of the Decemberists, Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear, Sonic Youth, Passion Pit, and many more are starting to call Twitter home, and occasionally post some pretty cool content. (Mary the Mad Blogger can be found @maryrehak, if you’re really bored)
Catch y’all soon for more news!
