Concert Watch

This just in: Mogwai is coming to town! They’re touring with F**k Buttons, who visited Emo’s just a few months ago with Caribou. The date to save is September 12 at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater, just a few short weeks before our fair city explodes into the insanity that is ACL.

Tickets go on sale June 14th (that’s tomorrow!), so set your alarms for 10am, because this is a show you don’t want to miss. F**k Buttons will take the stage at 8, bringing their trance-inducing brand of organic noise rock, and then Mogwai will complete the audience’s total destruction with a post-rock post-apocalyptic sound of distorted guitars, meandering synths, and creepy, muted samples of random people talking about random things. Expect to see fellow concert-goers leaving the show with shell-shocked looks, uncertain as to what they just experienced, just knowing that it was awesome.

For more immediate concert recommendations, tomorrow you get to choose between Busdriver’s gangsta-free and hipster-friendly rap at the Mohawk, and the Black and White Years’ 70’s-era acid rock after a fashion show at the Parish. On Sunday, your best bet is going to be Grand Old Party at the Mohawk, and Monday evening you may catch a familiar Chillville person or two at Rilo Kiley with Thao With the Get Down Stay Down at Stubbs. We’ve blogged about Thao before, and can’t recommend this show enough.
